"Do I have to purchase the OEM Developer's Agreement?"
No. If you have a product that
can be fast-tracked; do not require multiple purchases
during the development phase; or do not require engineering
assistance, purchase of the Agreement is not required.
Most successful OEM products
require some level of engineering support, so the OEM
Developer's Agreement is recommended.
"I've been working with a distributor. Do I need to work
directly with Ocean Optics to become an OEM?"
No. We give every customer the
option work direct with Ocean Optics or through one of our
valued distributors.
" Will my OEM discount be the different if I work through an
Ocean Optics distributor?"
No. You'll be able to take
advantage of the same savings no matter which method you
choose -- direct or through a distributor.
"Is the pricing structure different for international OEMs?"
No. At Ocean Optics, our price
structure is uniform and for all marketing domestic and
international.
"Does Ocean Optics' standard 3-year warranty apply to OEM
orders?"
No. Due to the custom nature of
these products, OEM systems are warranted for one year from
the date of shipment.
"Can Ocean Optics provide just-in-time delivery or hold a
reserve inventory in stock?"
Absolutely. We have kanbans in
place for many OEMs to ensure same day delivery. We also
have the ability to deliver large orders (500 systems) in
less than four weeks. We use Oracle as our company-wide data
and manufacturing management system and this allows us
on-time release of scheduled deliveries as well as blanket
orders.
"What is your manufacturing capacity?"
Ocean Optics has a run rate of
approximately 1,500 to 2,000 systems per months -- with the
ability to more than triple that amount.
"Do you allow site visits?"
Definitely! An integral part of
quality assurance for most OEMs is an audit of our
operations. We also want our OEM customers to see how our
spectrometers are built. For those reasons, we always
welcome visits.
"If my volumes increase during the year, can I receive a
greater discount?"
Yes! Your volumes are tracked
and the appropriate discount is applied when volumes exceed
the set discount volume.
"What if my volumes fall below my discount level?"
This is measured on an annual
basis and a new discount is applied -- based on the previous
year's balance.
"What is the volume discount schedule?"
